printing pdf document

It's not so bad!

printing pdf document

I make posters/fllyers at home in Publisher 2007, save them to a flash drive, then go to work at a branch office and submit them to the home office to be printed in their commercial print (we also have Publisher 2007 installed at work). I save the file to a special drive that they then download and print a poster/flyer for me. I found out today that the Publisher software at work does not have the same fonts I have at home. My questions are:
1. When they open the file at the home office and they do not have the same font styles, is their Publisher going to change my font style and size to something else?

2. If so, is it possible that when I save my work at home, I save it as a pdf file on a flash drive, bring it to work, upload it to the special drive, and when they download, it will look exactly as I created it?

Thank you for any help you can give me - it's given me a huge headache!

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I didn't get a posted message notification.

At any rate, here you go. You can embed the fonts in the Publisher file itself. If you do NOT do that then there are a couple of things that could happen. If the print shop has the fonts they can use their version. If they do not have the font then Publisher will prompt them to substitute the fonts.

You may want to save the Publisher file as a PDF and deliver that to the print shop. This way everything is contained in the PDF itself. The big problem that *could* happen is that a font, specifically a TrueType font, does not allow itself to be embedded in a PDF. There are certain TrueType fonts, such as the WordPerfect font WPIconics, that has a special flag set to "ON" that prevents PDF creating applications from embedding the font. It's unlikely that you will have that problem, but it possible.
